Comparison to Germany

To compare this type of business to similar ones in Germany is quite difficult because these Hotpot restaurants don't exist in our country. In Thailand people eat a lot of soup. It doesn't matter if it time for breakfast, lunch or dinner - we have the feeling Thais eat soup all the time!
However, in Germany no one would ever eat soup for breakfast. Only very few people eat soup as a main course. Still, winter time is soup time in Germany. It is getting colder outside and people like to eat a hot soup to warm up. The typ of soup is quite different to Thai soup which most of the times consist of clear soup with noodles, some vegetable, fish balls or meat. I guess Germans all time favorite soups are pumpkin, mushroom and potato soup being very thick. In fact, we do eat soup that is a bit similar to Thai one but always as a an appetizer. These soups also contain vegetables, noodles and sometimes chicken. Due to this every restaurant has some soups on their menu but I have never seen a restaurant before that only sells soup and nothing else.
Because there are several people like soup very much, like Jessica and me, I do think that there is a potential target market in Germany. Although I think it won't ever be a big trend or a place to go with your family, it still think it could be profitable. Of course this depends on different things. In fact, location is a very important factor to have a look at for a hotpot restaurant in Germany. I guess nearly every big city in our country has a subdistrict being ab bit alternative where many different kind of unusual restaurnts are located. At least I know Hamburg has a district like this which is called "Schanze". People are very open minded and like to try new stuff. These people are the target market in Germany.
